Bobbins/shrimp rolls

Bobbins, also called shrimp rolls, are made by Miedema Metaal and delivered throughout the Netherlands and abroad.

Fast delivery of shrimp rolls
Thanks to in-house production and large stock of parts, bobbin strands can be delivered very quickly, even within 24 hours, if needed. All connection forms, such as staple on staple, or between ring or link, can be supplied in various thicknesses. Various sizes and thicknesses of the side plates are in stock and, if required, they can be specially made to any non-standard size. Net rings are also made in-house. In addition to standard shapes and thicknesses in stock, any special request can be made (quickly). Miedema Metaal works with both full rubber shrimp rollers and the hybrid shrimp rollers.

The base and tread of the roller are made of rubber, however, the core and flange are made of a wear-resistant PU. This combination keeps the roller rolling well, reducing wear and extending its life. Because these reels do not drag along the bottom, the cutter uses less fuel, there is less bycatch and less debris enters the net.

Since the 1960s, Miedema Metaal has been closely involved in developments in (shrimp) fishing. Whereas bobbins were first made of Wood and then PVC, we now use rubber. Not only are increasingly wear-resistant compositions used for the rubber bobbins, the steelwork has also become stronger, harder and more wear-resistant over time.

Bobbin strands have changed a lot since the beginning, but still Miedema Metaal is continuing to develop and test new materials and production methods. The developments are not only limited to higher yields and longer lifespans, but also include soil disturbance and ecological impact.
